Sven Schwieters

PhD candidate

Sven Schwieters is a PhD candidate at both the Department of Medical Imaging and Department of Plastic Surgery at Radboud University Medical Center. He is a member of the Advanced X-ray Tomographic Imaging Group (AXTI) lab, inside the Department of Medical Imaging.

He studied Biomedical Engineering at the University of Twente in Enschede, with his main interest was in Imaging. He graduated in October 2024, obtaining his MSc degree in Biomedical Engineering with his thesis ‘Physics-driven simulations for needle localization in MR-guided percutaneous needle interventions’. After graduating, he started his PhD in the AXTI lab in January 2025 under the supervision of Ioannis Sechopoulos, Stefan Hummelink and Brigitte van der Heijden. His research project is part of the DYNAMIC study, which aims to contribute to a non-invasive analysis of wrist kinematics by four-dimensional CT scanning to improve diagnosis and treatment of wrist injuries.
