Jessie Gommers
Jessie Gommers is a PhD candidate at the Advanced X-ray Tomographic Imaging (AXTI) lab within the department of Medical Imaging at Radboud University Medical Center.
She studied Biomedical Sciences at Radboud University, with her main interest in epidemiology. She graduated in August 2020 when she obtained her MSc degree in Biomedical Sciences with her thesis ‘Breast MRI in women recalled at biennial screening mammography: a population-based study in the Netherlands’. After graduating, she started her PhD in the AXTI lab in August 2020 under the supervision of Ioannis Sechopoulos and Mireille Broeders. Her research project consists of optimizing the mammography interpretation for breast cancer screening and is entitled Accurate and Intelligent Reading for Earlier breast cancer Detection (aiREAD). During her PhD she mainly focuses on artificial intelligence-based systems and the potential for adaption of the human visual system.
